Training with your partner is one of the best ways to prepare for a Doubles race. You learn each other’s pacing, practise changeovers, and figure out who should do what.
Five sessions
1. You go, I go
- One partner works while the other rests, then swap.
- Example: 10 rounds of 250 m row each.
- Practise quick changeovers.
2. Shared station sets
- Split a set of wall balls, burpees or lunges.
- Example: 100 wall balls, swapping every 10.
3. Paced runs together
- Run 1 km repeats at the slower partner’s race pace.
- Learn to run together.
4. Half simulation
- Four runs and four stations, splitting the work as in the race.
- Test your split plan.
5. Weakness sessions
- Each partner focuses on their weak station while the other rests.
Changeovers
Practise the physical changeover — passing the rope, swapping on the erg, handing over the ball. Keep it quick and smooth.
Communication
Agree simple signals: a tap, “go”, “swap”. Practise them until they are automatic.
How often
Once a week together is ideal in the weeks before the race. Do your other training separately.
