HYROX is the biggest name in hybrid racing, but it is not the only one. Several other series combine running and functional fitness in different ways. Each has its own format and appeal.

All details below come from the organisers’ own sites, gathered on our races page, where every series links to its sources. Formats change, so check before entering.

Individual and pairs races

DEKA

Spartan’s indoor race: ten zones with short runs (DEKA FIT and DEKA MILE) or none (DEKA STRONG). See HYROX vs DEKA.

ATHX Games

A session with three scored zones — Strength, Endurance and MetCon X — separated by warm-up, refuel and recovery zones. The workouts stay the same for a whole season. See ATHX Games explained.

Deadly Dozen

Twelve 400 m laps on an athletics track, each followed by a “Labour” in the infield. See Deadly Dozen explained.

HybridX

A Swedish race with eight machine-heavy stations and a run on a curved treadmill. See HybridX explained.

LT Games

Life Time’s US event, where you choose your weight and reps for each lift.

The Yoddha Race

India’s run-and-station race, with 700 m runs before seven workout zones and a national final.

Team events

Tribal Clash

Mixed teams of six on the beach, with events kept secret until race weekend.

Turf Games

A festival day of team workouts for squads of six, with other formats for smaller teams.

METRIX

A pairs race through five 10-minute stations, staged like a nightclub. See METRIX explained.

See team hybrid racing for more on the team formats.

Choosing a series

  • Want a large, international race? HYROX.
  • Less running? DEKA MILE or STRONG.
  • Strength focus? ATHX Games.
  • Track and simple kit? Deadly Dozen.
  • Team fun? Tribal Clash, Turf Games or METRIX.

Training carries over

The fitness you build for one series transfers to the others. Running, strength, grip and conditioning are useful everywhere.
