At US$120 the Activate NITRO TR is the sane way into a HYROX season — US$140 less than the Deviate Elite HYROX, which only earns its US$260 if you are chasing a time on the eight 1 km runs. Do not import from PUMA Hong Kong: HK$990 converts to about US$126, above the US shelf price before shipping or the now-mandatory duty. Anyone who needs to know exactly which sizes are in stock, or whether Amazon undercuts PUMA, will not find it here — I could not read either.
PUMA’s two HYROX-specific shoes now sit US$140 apart: the new Activate NITRO TR HYROX trainer lists at US$120.00 and the Deviate NITRO Elite 4 HYROX race shoe at US$260.00 on PUMA’s official US HYROX storefront, both checked 18 September 2026. And the obvious cross-border move is dead: PUMA Hong Kong’s price for the same trainer, HK$990.00, converts to roughly US$126 — about 5% above the US price, before a dollar of shipping or duty.
This is a pricing piece, not a review. I have not worn, weighed or raced in either shoe, and nothing below should be read as a performance judgement. Every figure here is a shelf price or a published claim, with the date it was checked.
The two prices
- Activate NITRO TR HYROX — US HYROX Shop
- US$120.00
- Deviate Elite HYROX — US HYROX Shop
- US$260.00
- Activate NITRO TR — PUMA Hong Kong
- HK$990.00
- Same, converted at mid-market
- ≈US$126.13
Prices checked 18 September 2026. Conversion at the xe.com mid-market rate of 1 HKD = 0.1274 USD, read the same day. No landed cost is stated — see below.
One caveat on provenance, because it matters. Both US figures come from PUMA’s official HYROX shop and not from us.puma.com. I opened the us.puma.com product pages for all three relevant styles and could not get a price to render, so I am not quoting one. The US$260 Deviate figure is independently corroborated by Gear Patrol, which reported it on 29 July 2026 as a US$10 premium over the standard Deviate Nitro Elite 4 and said the shoe went on sale from 31 July, and by Men’s Journal, which states US$260 at PUMA. For reference, Running Warehouse’s review of the standard, non-HYROX Deviate Nitro Elite 4 cites a US$250 price point, which lines up with Gear Patrol’s US$10-premium framing.
The US$120 trainer price I have only from the HYROX storefront, on the men’s and women’s pages both. It is consistent across three category pages there, but a single retailer is a single retailer.
Hong Kong charges more than the US, not less
PUMA Hong Kong lists the PUMA x HYROX Activate NITRO men’s training shoe at HK$990.00, with the women’s version at the same HK$990.00 on its PUMA x HYROX category page. Hong Kong retailer Escapade lists it at the same HK$990.00 and states on the page that it ships only to Hong Kong and Macau, which rules it out as an export route anyway.
At the xe.com mid-market rate read on 18 September 2026 — 1 HKD = 0.1274 USD, with xe also showing 1 USD = 7.8447 HKD — HK$990 is US$126.13. MTFX’s historical series gives 0.12753 for 4 September 2026, so the rate is stable; the Hong Kong dollar is pegged, which is why this is one of the few conversions you can quote without hedging.
So the gap is about US$6, the wrong way. That is the entire finding on the import question: there is nothing to arbitrage. It is the mirror image of the ANTA Zone 2 90’s Australian mark-up over AliExpress, where the cross-border difference was large enough to be worth the hassle. Here the shelf prices are effectively the same, and the US one is lower.
Duty now makes it worse, but it was already dead
For completeness: a pair posted from Hong Kong to a US address is no longer duty-exempt. US duty-free de minimis treatment was suspended for all countries from 29 August 2025 under Executive Order 14324, continued by presidential action effective 24 February 2026, and CBP published a rule on 24 June 2026 indefinitely suspending the exemption for merchandise arriving by all modes other than the international postal network.
I am not publishing a landed cost, because I could not source the footwear duty rate, any reciprocal-tariff surcharge, PUMA HK’s international shipping charge or the courier’s brokerage fee. Guessing any one of those would make the number worthless. It does not change the conclusion: the trade loses on the shelf price alone, and duty only widens the loss.
Watch the shipping threshold, not the shoe
PUMA’s own US help centre states standard shipping costs US$8 on orders under US$60, with US$15 economy to Alaska, Hawaii and APO/FPO addresses, US$20 expedited and US$30 next business day — i.e. the familiar free-over-US$60 threshold, read from the other side. Both shoes clear it comfortably.
The official HYROX shop is stricter. Its Activate NITRO TR product page advertises free standard delivery over US$130 — which the US$120 trainer does not reach on its own. That page also carries an “exclusions apply” caveat and, oddly, references “Free UK Delivery” in its meta description, so confirm the US shipping line at checkout. Practically: the US$260 racer ships free from either shop; the US$120 trainer may cost you a delivery fee at the HYROX store, which nudges the real out-the-door figure up.
Where the trainer sits in the HYROX line
All from the same US HYROX Shop category pages, checked 18 September 2026:
| Shoe | US price |
|---|---|
| Activate NITRO TR HYROX | US$120.00 |
| Velocity NITRO 5 HYROX | US$150.00 |
| Deviate NITRO 4 HYROX | US$180.00 |
| Deviate Elite HYROX | US$260.00 |
One more data point on how PUMA handles older HYROX stock: the women’s Velocity NITRO 4 HYROX is marked down to US$105.00 from a US$150.00 recommended retail price on the women’s page. That is an on-site markdown on a previous-generation model, not a stacked coupon — but it tells you the new shoes hold list while the outgoing ones move.
What the shoes claim to be
Briefly, and as claims only. PUMA’s press release describes the Activate NITRO TR HYROX as a HYROX-specific training shoe with a wider outsole, lower stack height, a TPU heel counter and a slightly firmer NITROFOAM midsole, on sale globally from 1 July 2026. The us.puma.com product page for style 314057_01 lists a 6 mm heel-to-toe drop, increased toe box width, medium cushioning, a PUMAGRIP ATR outsole and an upper made with at least 30% recycled materials. Those are PUMA’s figures, not mine. Neither source published a stack height in millimetres, so I am not giving one. Men’s Journal’s reviewer describes the Deviate Elite HYROX as sitting on a 40 mm slab of foam — that is the reviewer’s characterisation, not a PUMA spec.
Notably, PUMA announced the trainer without a price: T3 reported on 17 June 2026 that pricing was unconfirmed, and trade coverage the same week confirmed only the 1 July launch date.
If you are cross-shopping a dedicated trainer rather than a PUMA one, our Nike Metcon 9 notes cover the same job from a different direction.
Four things I could not confirm
Saying so is more useful than filling the gaps with plausible numbers.
- No us.puma.com price. I reached the product pages for the Deviate NITRO Elite 4, the Deviate Elite HYROX and the Activate NITRO TR, and the price fields did not render. Everything above is HYROX-storefront pricing plus editorial corroboration.
- No UK or EU figure. I found PUMA UK, German, Dutch and Luxembourg pages for the same style code 314057_01, but no readable GBP or EUR price, so the “overseas PUMA store” question is answered for Hong Kong only. No VAT-stripped comparison either.
- No size-level stock, anywhere. Not one live size grid. If you need a US 10.5 in a specific colourway, open the page yourself.
- No third-party US price. Running Warehouse carries three Deviate Nitro Elite 4 HYROX listings and Amazon has a men’s Activate Nitro HYROX listing, but I could not read a price on either, and found no Dick’s or Zappos listing at all. So I cannot tell you whether anyone undercuts PUMA — only that I did not find evidence they do.
The call
US$120 is the cheap way into a HYROX season, and US$260 is 2.17 times that. If your bottleneck is the sled, the burpees and the wall balls rather than the 8 km of running, the US$140 stays in your pocket. If you are hunting a time and the runs are where you lose it, the Elite is the shoe PUMA built for that, and US$10 over the standard Deviate Nitro Elite 4 is a rounding error at that price.
What you should not do is open a foreign PUMA tab hoping for a discount. On the one overseas storefront I could actually price, the same trainer costs more.
